Ager Mk11, Rear view

This view of the Mk11 Ager shows the "upright", the hoop over the wheel that picks up the top wishbone. The nut retaining the ball joint at the outer end of the wishbone can be seen at the centre of the hoop. The connection to the swing-arm at the lower right hand end of the upright can also just be seen. This is believed to be the first ever application of this system to an STV, although of course a similar system is used to keep the front wheel upright on all Voyager HCS systems. This picture amounts to 'Prior Disclosure' of this system , making rear wheel top wishbones unpatentable. It has in any case been in use on V05 since 2003. The main purpose of this system is described in the commentry on FF handling; to eliminate the last major area of torsional flex on an STV - the rear Swing-Arm fork. However it also makes the swing-arm cross tube unnecessary, providing the individual arms can resist lateral loads, meaning that complete freedom of swing-arm pivot positioning can be achieved.
Enjoy.
