John Bruce BSAFF & Quasar in France, 1985

A photo from my ill-fated attempt to ride John Bruce's BSAFF to the Bol d'Or in 1985, in company with Neil Vass and his Quasar which I had ridden there the year before. I wrote an account of the trip in Motorcycle Sport. As I mentioned in the article, the Quasar was sipping fuel at about 90mpg as we cruised along at 55mph, which was the maximum speed the ailing BSA could manage after the points started to play up. This shot was taken in Chaumont outside the house of a very kind family who had put up myself and several other stranded Brits earlier in the year, en route to Algeria with a small fleet of Honda Big Red 250cc trikes! Note that both machines are sporting Swagman throwover panniers, which were very popular at the time. PNB
