1957 AvLeBiCar at Goodwood Revival (2016)

The AvLeBiCar, built in 1957, was the fourth and last of Sir Alliot Verdon-Roe's FF creations. Seen here on display in the aviation section of the 2016 Goodwood Revival. And one of his grandsons was there with it too (right), along with a chap from the Solent Sky Aviation Museum in Southampton where the machine now resides with the much earlier Avro Monocar of 1926. (See photo in this folder). This machine was powered by the same 192cc watercooled, shaft drive Velocette flat twin engine used in the company's LE police bike. There's a great one minute British Pathé news film of Sir Alliot himself riding the machine, aged 80, in 1957, entitled 'Ageless Pioneer'. In it, the commentary describes the machine as 'an armchair motor scooter' capable of 60mph. PNB See here: Pioneer!https://www.britishpathe.com/video/ageless-pioneer
