Rocket 3 Touring

Dear all,
This picture of of a younger Rob, complete with pot belly superimposed on a Triumph Rocket 3 Touring 2008 model chassis, is a replacement for the recently abandoned Norton Rotary Project.
Basically I came to the conclusion that the Norton Project was not going to get finished in the near future. Also I will have to get my skates on if I want to enjoy another ff before its lights out.
So rather than give up completely! I am embarking on a quick cut and shut of this Triumph.
The bike has been purchased and have ridden it to La Tour Blanche in the Dordogne France.

Bottpower Torpedo Electric FF Design (2022)

This is a brand new (May 2022) design for an electric FF that was spotted on Facebook by FF racer-builder Rob Horn. The accompanying blurb on the *Bottpower Project* Facebook page states:
"This is the BOTT Torpedo. It's an idea we've been playing with for quite some time. The concept is inspired by a design made by Hans-Joachim Maier in 1987.

Geoff Bird's LC350 FF (1990s)

I think Geoff worked for Tony Foale as a fabricator many years ago. He's been a serious two and three-wheel streamlined human-powered vehicle builder/rider as shown here: http://www.bhpc.org.uk/Constructors/Bird/t7-build.aspx I have no details on this moto FF project. Geoff is on the FB FF group, perhaps he can provide some information. MM

Here's a thing

After scrolling through these thousands of comments it was obvious that a reference to Bikeweb was needed. So using an established Youtube log in I submitted such a reference. Twice. With no result. So props to Blez for getting one in, regrettably without mentioning that this site covers All Ffs, not just the Monotracer. So it's not just 'bikeweb' being censored, there's clearly a trick we've missed there somewhere. Maybe someone will tell us.

"Body of blog too short needs at least ten words".

OK. BMW, Honda (Specifically), . I accuse you of corporate cowadice for ignoring FFs. OK?

Lightweight Electric FF concept

This is a project created by Myles Crowder and recently (August 2021) posted on the FF Facebook page. With Myles' permission I am putting it up here. I'm sure Royce Creasey will approve. PNB

Hardaker Yamaha RD400FF in V&CMC mag

John Hardaker's RD400FF, and his own description of it, as seen in the January 2021 issue of the Vintage Motorcycle Club's monthly magazine, 'Vintage & Classic Motorcycle'. Dig those funky go-kart wheels!
Royce Creasey's comments about this machine, and the VMCC, can be read in the blog section here: http://bikeweb.com/comment/reply/3628#comment-form
The closest other FFs to this machine are probably the two Phasars built earlier by Malcolm Newell in the mid-1980s, powered by Yamaha's later liquid cooled 250 and 350 twins. See here: http://bikeweb.com/image/tid/202

Some costs

In my probably pointless pursuit of an electric powered replacement for my ancient Voyager, I've established some cost estimates for an electric powertrain roughly equivelent to BMW's C-Evo (long range version) - comfortably enough to produce Voyager-levels of performance, if not range. These are from local E-bicycle* enthusiasts and battery specialists.

Semi-exposed Crampton FF

Another view of Ralph Crampton's rear-engined FF which shows more clearly just how much of Suzuki's original motorised bicycle is contained within it. Wheelbase is 2.8metres, which is right up there in Ecomobile territory (2.925m – see here: http://bikeweb.com/node/1853). PNB

Team FF and the NVT moped racer at the Birmingham Wheels Project for the inaugural UK Moped Mayhem race on a freezing cold November day in 1985. As seen in the May 1986 issue of Motorcycle Sport. Long'n'Low ZNUG FF design (2007)

This striking-looking FF probably never made it beyond a computer rendering. You can see that it has hub centre steering, supported on one side only, and with the limited lock and very long wheelbase, it would have the turning circle of a truck. You certainly wouldn't want to try despatch riding in London with it! The toothed belt transmission looks more Harley-esque than Zero-esque, although the motor could be electric.
UPDATE. Turns out it was a computer concept design by ZNUG, way back in 2007. There's a bit more about it, and a couple more images on The Kneeslider website here:

Evomoto (Honda Innova-based FF)

Wolfgang is still (in 2014) running his Evomoto and getting incredible mpg (250+) and top speed of 130Kph (80mph)

A brilliant design that allows him to register it as the original Honda Innova 125 – all TUV approved. He is not planning to build any more or put it into production, although it's a very high quality production standard build. I may have pursuaded Wolfgang to mould me some panels over the winter for a Honda 90 cub racer I have. His website has not been updated for a while see here for the English intro if you are unfamiliar with this great little hypermiler.

T52E Land Speed Record trainer FF - Help Required to finish the build.

James Toseland's team are upping the ante and concentrating all efforts on the streamliner, The Toseland 52 Express. They are using a RR helecopter gas turbine driving the rear wheel to give massive low down torque and huge top end power to take them all the way to 400mph at Bonneville in Oct/Nov 2014. One of the team members has approached me to ask if there is anyone who would like to take over the completion of the trainer bike, so that they can spend their time solely on the 'liner.
