BMW C evo motor & transmission LHS (2012)

An old photo of the C evo electric motor and toothed belt transmission, provided by BMW when the prototypes were first launched to the world's press back in 2012, newly uploaded to bikeweb in 2024. I particularly like the fact that the belt is completely enclosed so there's no risk of damage to it from stray stones. You can also see how compact the electric motor is – no bigger than a car starter motor but putting out a claimed peak rating of 35kW/47bhp. Unlike most power claims, this proved to be over 50bhp when one of these maxiscooters was put on a dyno, as can be seen on the graph in this folder, here: https://bikeweb.com/node/3306. PNB
